    Problem Uploading

    Hi

One of our customers is having problems uploading. They are getting the following 2 error messages

An error occurred when trying to connect to the server. This can happen when the server is unreachable or you have set up an SSL server, but this server can not accept SSL connections, or Windows is confused about proxy settings. If you have Internet Explorer or another application configured to work with a proxy, the settings should be the same for Actinic. Please check your connection first.
    and

The computer you specified as your mail server is not a valid mail (SMTP) server. Check the computer name or address and try again. If it fails again, then it is possible, you were locked out by a firewall program, or you don't have network connection to this server.
Now i have asked the customer to set the SMTP address as the same one he has set up in outlook express so this error should now be fixed but does anyone have any idea about the other error? I have tried to upload from my end and it has worked fine. i have also cleared down the files from the server in order to see if this happens however it doesn't appear to have done?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

    Some checks would be:
    1. Can he FTP directly to the server?
    2. Does he have any firewall settings resricting Actinic?
    3. Is he using proxy settings to connect to the internet?

He could also disable SSL and recheck - that might help to isolate the problem.

      Why?

Outlook Express is a desktop email client, the webiste is on a server and needs to access the SMTP service running on the same server.

Your client needs to try two things :

set the SMTP server as 'localhost' (wihout the quotes), no username , no password and the 'requires authentication' box NOT ticked - this works 99% of the time.

log on to his website control panel, set up an email identity just for the website, read the information provided by the host on setting up smtp clients and use the server information given, the username just created and the associated password, with 'requires authentication' ticked.
