    Login cookie issue

When i try to login to my site i get the following message

This shopping application requires permission to use cookies on your machine, but this has been denied.

This can be for several different reasons, but they are all under your control:

    - you may have disallowed cookies altogether in your browser

    - you may have the privacy policy in your browser or internet security software/firewall set to a level that stops cookies from being used by this shopping site

Cookies in this shopping application are used to keep track of your cart contents, remember names and addresses when you ask for them to be remembered and, when relevant, keep you logged on.

Cookies are not used in any way that abuses your privacy or security.

Please change your settings to allow cookies either in your browser or firewall. If you choose not to, I'm afraid that we cannot complete your request.

Please click here to return to the catalog.
I have cookies enabled and the shopping cart which also uses cookies is working.

Any ideas what else could be causing this?

    Hi Elaine

Can you tell me what browser you are uisng and have you tried using a different browser to see if the same problems occurs. Also have just tried deleting all your cookies and offline pages and then trying again.

I'm getting exactly the same issue as ariana, I use a number of browsers including IE, FireFox, Opera and Netscape, they all get the same results....

I tried clearing my cookies and all offline pages but it still says cookies are blocked!

Just out of curiosity I went and found a cookie test site http://www.tempesttech.com/cookies/cookietest1.asp which gave me the result...

Any ideas how I can get this sorted would be greatly appreaciated.

A forum search will be the quickest way, as this error has been hit before and is discussed in full along with suggested solutions

I have spent a good hour searching all terms for this error and can't seem to see the thread you refer to Pinbrook?

The only one i could find with any relevance is this one http://community.actinic.com/showthr...n+cookie+error

I tried purging the session files but still get the same result.

Its still in development but the temporary url is http://www.placebroker.net

I gave in and called the actinic support team who has advised me its a unique issue. They have got a site snapshot from me and are working on it.

I'll post what they find out for anyone else experiencing this issue.

This could be down to the latest javascript updates, if you have updated I would suggest removing the latest update which should be v1.6 and then it should work as intended. This too has been discussed earlier.

                  Kind regards,

                    Kind regards,
Actually it's Sun Javascript v6.1 that is conflicting with Actinic, and needs to be deep sixed.

Sometimes I get the feeling numbers are the only thing I'm any good at.

Do you mean sun javascript on the server or on the actinic host computer?

Just i have a fresh install on the server so it should be clean, also i have tested this issue on several different pc's including one or two from the actinic technical team, all of which get the same error.

In fact i even had this issue when i was using the trial version hosted on actinics own servers.

Thanks for the help so far ppl!!!

I think they mean Sun Java (which is different from Javascript) on the PC and looking at mine I assume it's version 1.6.1 they mean (they were both right in their own way).

I'm not sure what the problem is but, but try removing it and seeing if that fixes it.

I've just had a reply from Actinic Technical support and the answer to my issue was pretty straight forward!

The problem is caused by a quote mark you have entered in 'Design | Text". This can be fixed by changing the text from:

Your password is incorrect. Please retry checking for spelling errors and that "Caps Lock" is not selected.

                              to:

Your password is incorrect. Please retry checking for spelling errors and that \"Caps Lock\" is not selected.

To effect this change, please go to 'Deign | Text' then click the 'Go To' button and enter an ID of 355. You should now have the text above in the 'Current Value' window where you will be able to change it.
I added the \ before both " then cleared my browser cookies and got logged in on both Firefox and Internet Explorer no problem.

This may help others having similar problems!!
