Problem with TM symbol

I have a few products that should have the TM symbol displayed with the short description.

I have no problems getting them to show on the website (although they don't display on the offline previews) but they don't work on the customer reports or emails.

For example THIS ITEM

The registered symbol (the R in the circle) works 100% on the customer emails/invoices (and on the offline preview actually)...but the TM doesn't (both generated using the ALT commands)

Anyone know why one works and one doesn't...on the offline preview and in the invoices and emails?
And is there anything I can do about it?

I can't reference an image in the short description though because any html I use will show in the cart/emails/invoice etc, won't it?

Don't think you can as emails are plain text

Yeh, I know.
But it's not just the emails (they're less of a problem, tbh) it's the invoices too and these look unprofessional.
The R symbol (in the circle) shows fine...but the TM doesn't. It just displays as a ? on the invoice and I don't really know why

why not simply add a bit of ^tm to the code
this will but the TM in superscript (like the TH in dates)

There was a solution on the forum by Sir Norman for v7 to strip out any HTML from the product name in the checkout.

ActinicOrder.pm and OrderScript.pl haven't changed too much in those areas so it should work for V8.

Hi,

I have a similar problem with the ® registered symbol which I have in the short description field on a few products. However, this seems to display ok on both the invoices and emails. My issue relates to the resulting email when the 'Email a friend' button is clicked upon.

The title of the resulting email shows the product followed by ®. I am not sure why the 'Â' is generated but I would like to remove this.

Could the recommended resolution be applied to this problem? I am assuming I would need to edit a different file.

I'm still having trouble with this

I've managed to strip the html from the cart etc..and I've tested it by using html in other product names, works fine.

But, with my TM symbol, it's still not working
I swapped from using the ALT 0153 command (which works on site but brings up a ? in the cart/invoices etc) to using !!<&trade;>!! instead...it strips out the !!< >!! tags but still displays &trade; in the cart/invoice etc

I've gone back to using the ALT method of displaying my TM for now because at least that shows as TM in the cart and only presents a problem with displaying a ? when it gets to printed reports.

Does anyone know why I might be having problems with this? If not, I'm gonna give it up as a bad job but at least I can now use html in my product short description!!
