Section List on Homepage

I would like to have the Shop Sections listed on my homepage, in the same way the Top level of the store has.

Basically I want the layout from here to be on this page.

Is this possible?

Yes, I have just done the same thing for a client.

I previewed the Top level of the store in Internet Explorer, clicked View Source, and copied the code that displayed the section links into Notepad.

Then I changed the image paths to include the /acatalog/ folder (because the home page is one level above that), removed the P_ that preview puts into the page URLs from every link, and then added Actinic HTML markers at the beginning and end of the entire text block in notepad.

I then added a text only fragment to the home page, copied the text from Notepad and pasted into that fragment.

If I was to add a new section in the future, would that automatically update the homepage aswell as the top level of the store?

No it wouldn't, you are including static html.

Why not have the store home page as the sites home page and be done with the messing around?
