One site + one licence + two PCs

    = confusion!

I want to design and maintain my site on one PC, and manage orders for the same site on a second PC. I have a single user licence copy of Actinic Business v8. I have set up each copy of Actinic using the "Settings:Business Settings:Access on this PC" options to allow the site to have order processing on one PC and everything else on the other PC. As you configure Actinic using this it diables certain functions. So far so good.

But if I download orders on the orders PC, how do I reflect the stock changes on the actual web site?

Technical support advise doing a CSV export after downloading the orders to update the maintenance PC. So should I update the web site ONLY from the maintenance PC?

The reason I ask is that the PC that is set up to do order processing still has a web site update option. But I am not clear why, nor what this does! It seems to be updating the website but I do not think it updates everything. I hoped this would just update the stock figures on the site but instead it seems to purge the site of all images and design. So what is this update feature for?

This not actually what it is designed for, i think multi user works similar to this.

If you wish to run stock control like this then you would probably be better using the molend stock control mole or link stock figures to an externaldatabse on both systems

Jan at mole end has some good tools

Cheers Darren. Still confused though! What is this functionality designed for? Is the upload function on the orders PC redundant?

Do you mean the Mole End Stock Link?

      Cheers!

          LOL Jo, very droll

Would your stock take mole help (from reading your web site I am not sure this is the answer I seek)?

Or would the Stock Link be the answer?

And just what is the point of the upload facility on a PC that is set up for order processing alone? Be warned - it mucks up your site big time and you have to refresh the whole site to cure it.
