Easiest way to export v7 data to v8.5.1

I am sure that there is a simple solution to this but have yet to find a previous thread explaing it in VERY SIMPLE TERMS.
We have been running catalog for years from v4-v7 but it's now time to finally upgrade to V8. Althought the site design is ok I want to start a fresh design with v8 and therefore need to import the product data ONLY from v7 - v8.
What is the best way to configure my snapshot export from v7 - ie what boxes/options should be selected/deselected?

As an option to doing a snapshot will the following work:
Although I have no experience of editing the database in MS Access is this a better option - ie can I just copy the mdb from v7 and paste it over the mdb in v8.
I presume that this will not import any images but again if I copy/paste my image files into the right folder in v8(?) the paths should work OK?

If it's any help we will be running V8 Business and linking this to Actinic Head Office and EPOS - any issues regarding product references matching up between EPOS and Business?
    Many thanks

Load V8 on your machine and just import a V7 snapshot, let it upgrade and do whatever it wants and you should end up with your data in a new clean v8 site. If you experience any problems once into v8, just apply a new theme and it will start you from scratch.

if you still running v7 while you get up to speed you can then import the orders from v7 into v8 when you go live
