Could'nt agree more Tracy babe Seriously it is still a long winded way of doing things, but the bits that get my goat are when it says copy this bit somewhere else then past it back. Can it not just disable it until you put it in the right place in the product tree.

anyway to much winging on a saturday morning
    I do it regularly
OK i wont make a comment about how often you do it then

If you don't do it often, it's easy to find yourself back in the "Oh, that looks complicated" field of thought and I think that newbies see the method for this simple function (different price/choice...different weight/choice...size/colour stock control etc) and think "there must be an easier way to do that" and so they think it's not the right method for them.

Sad but true...it's the way it's done..it's not as complicated as it looks once you've done it once or twice

Ahem...my TPW for a Saturday morning
What would you suggest to make it easier Tracey? Which part do you think is complicated or convaluted. The most confusing part of it IMO is where you need to cut attributes and paste them into components. I think that can get anyone a little confused for a small period, however the error message tells you exactly what to do, if you don't panic.

I've often seen comments on varying working practices or procedures where people comment "it's crap", yet if you ask them for some ways to improve it, they will give the blank stare or the shoulder shrug.

Perhaps if you have some good ideas, actinic can take them on board and make this area better, if indeed it can be improved.

the whole associated products thing is long winded!
A lot of time people need to use associated products for stock control purposes or to control additional/varying prices/weights.

IMO, it would be much easier if we were able to set these properties to the CHOICES without the need for associated (often hidden) products/permutations etc

Give us the option to give the choices (or combinations of choices (ie size/colour) properties...stock levels, weight, price etc

It's far more intuitive (as recent posts on this subject seem to suggest!) that setting up hidden products and the setting them up as permutations and associated products etc

          You get my drift anyway...

          damn, I need drink

The whole process of creating an attribute and it's associated choices, cutting and pasting it elsewhere, creating the component AND THEN dragging the attribute and choices back is confusing to say the least!

As a newb I probably wasted half a day at least just trying to figure it out from various posts on here, the help guide and the AUG. Got it in the end and it was like a lightbulb switching on!

As Tracey says, just being able to create the choice then have an option to set the prices from there would be ideal.
