    Starting from scratch

I have searched, but can't actually find how to start from a fresh.

I am running Ver 8.5.1, and it is a trial version that I only have 10 days to go, so I need to either kill or cure all my problems pretty quickly.

Owing to grinding to a complete halt, with a strange issue mentioned else where, that has flummoxed the good people on here, I want to scrap everything, and just make a simple basic cart, that I can up load and test. I plan on changing nothing except the essentials, and I will then at least know what I did, if or when I break it.

So, I guess, I need to delete the Sites1 dir, but what do I also need to do.

    Thanks again

Delete all instances of actinic off your PC, prog files and through add/remove and then just reinstall the trial version for another 30 days trial.

There are 3 problems with this

Firstly, we did that on my Wifes PC, but it hides the install date somewhere, and it is not deleted when you delete the application, so when we decided to try again, it knew the trial period had already run out,

Secondly, I ideally want to start with a completely clean site, with out any of the demo stuff they put in there.

thirdly, We downloaded an older version, and the upgrade. I do not think they will allow us to download the completely new one, now we are registered with them.

So, I see rapids approaching, a small boat with me in, and someone has just nicked my paddle.

Ho Hum, where would we be with out challenges like these.

      Cheers

If you remove the software via add/remove and then remove the actinic folders in prog files and my docs (if you have Vista), it will let you cos thousands have done it before, including myself. If you've uninstalled incorrectly, then you might well run into these probs.

The example site is there to help you learn so that you dont ask how do i add a component 2 days after you delete them all. If you're sure you don't want them, just delete them once site opens, we have to do this on every site we build.

Do it again, this should work as Lee said

You will always get a demo site on initial start up. just delete what you don't want

There is no problem downloading again, just visit the downloads section of the Actinic site

you may need to delete the registry entries, so the pc thinks it is clear of all instances of v8. But essientially you can remove and reinstall every 30 days if you choose.

Download the full 8581HFUA from the actinic site, install it and then populate network settings and test the upload.

It is best to leave the demo site in place and upload, if a test site works then your hosting is fine.

Then all your products, leave the demo products in place as they will help you to set up products. Delete tham at a later date.

              Cheers,

I thought there was an equivalent of a "new" button somewhere, for the pro guys who knew what they were doing.

I can see the point of the demo for new users, as you say, but right at this moment, I just want to keep it as simple as possible. I had issues where I deleted the "Demo PC" part, and every time I placed an order for one of my items, it put the Demo PC in the shopping cart, even after I purged everything. That, coupled with the other "fun" problems I am having, I just wanted to keep it as simple as possible to prove a point.

Good news about the Un-Install though, as strangely, after the fun and games on my wifes PC, which we did un-install etc, I have not tried it again on another PC. I will try it, and see how I get on.

As usual, Thanks for the help.
