    Multiple sites from one database

Hi. I am a complete newbie to Actinic and I am looking at creating multiple websites using my recently purchased Actinic Business Multisite.

I have about 10 different product types to sell, ranging from gifware and lighting to furniture. and I want to set up multiple websites to sell these products from, under different store names. Some sites will specialise in just 1 product type (i.e. just lighting) and others may sell 3 or 4 types (i.e. giftware, lighting, electronics etc.).

I was wondering is it possible to run all of these websites, using just one database, with all products listed within it, but certain sites just use certain parts of the database? - the lighting website just picks out lighting products from the database etc.

Is any of this at all possible? If so, how do I go about making this happen?

    Thanks in advance,
    kind regards,
    Tom

Hi, I use a separate MS Access database to manage all of my products, from this database I export the product information to a CSV file and then import this CSV file into Actinic using the Flat File Import wizard. If you did this you could include a flag against each product in the database to specify which of your sites the product belongs to. Doing this you could have some products on only one site and some products on 2 or 3 sites. You would hold all of your product details in a table in the database and then create a query to pull out all of the products flagged as site 1 products and then export this query to a CSV file and then import this into Actinic, then repeat the query for site 2 and 3.
You need basic knowledge of MS Access to do this, but that's all.

Multiple Websites using one Actinic Database

          Hi All

I have just started researching if what I want to do is possible...

I have about 5 ecommerce websites with different designs, but only 1 website, http://www.ultimastore.co.uk uses Actinic. This website is automated with our company database Navision.

I would like my other ecommerce websites such as http://www.powacycle.co.uk which currently use ecommercetemplates to use Actinic instead.

Would I need to redesign my non-Actinic websites using Actinic to use the same database? it has become necessary to do it this way as my 1 Actinic website has been automated and now my bosses want the other websites to work the same way.

How do I go about this?

          Thanks

          Steve
