Horizontal Navigation

Hi, I am very new to the software and I am currently reviewing the trial.

What I would ideally like to achieve is a horizontal tab top navigation bar to direct customers to relevant departments etc

I have searched through the themes & layout & cannot seem to find any way of achieving this , it always seems to have the main navigation on a vertical menu- any help would be much appreciated

You can arrange the navigation however you like, although there are no menus within standard actinic that will do this for you.

To acheive this you would have to write your own menu system or pop over to drillpine.biz when i think one of Normans plugins can be converted to horizontal.

Yep, both Norlist and NorCascade can be configured for horizontal alignment.
