Resizing problems!

Evening all !

I have been developing my site with the smart theme template.

Can somebody let me know if it's possible to restrict the size of the page when viewed in the browser. When I view it on my super dooper new widescreen the page spreads out and looks very messy.

I'm a bit of a beginner so any help, as usual would be much appreciated.

fix the width of the outer table to 740px, or 1000px or whatever you prefer, instead of 100%

Sorry, still a bit unsure, would I change the table width in the design/code area or would I have to find it in the stylesheet.
