AlsoBought

I have add the AlsoBought possibility this afternoon on my site. As my database is too young, I have a lot product for which I do not have AlsoBought product. So I export the access database into excel, and for each product with no AlsoBought information, add product reference by searching in my global product database compatible product. Works fine.
Then import the result into Access database, no problem.
I have same numbers of product after and before the import, just the sAlsoBoughtRef column have been changed.
But it crash Actinic when I try to update.
I cannot see where it come from ?

well, its becasue you're mangling the database out of the shape that actinic expects it to be.

what i'd suggest is generate the also purchased and then study the changes to the database before and after, with some db analytics tools. or some jolly good raking through the tables.

this will give you an insight into how actinic changes the structure for these items.

It is very surprising as, if I copy some cells from the new one to the old one it works. I try to copy 20/30 cells. It is OK. Then I try more (100 /120), and it crashes

Until you have enough history of orders in your database why not consider using Related Products instead.

Digging into the database as you have found can be difficult and very time consuming - and you may never be sure if the changes you made have not affected something else.

In the marketing tab select the products manually in the "also bought" section and lock them into place.

Thanks. I will use RP. Just need to see how it works. Hope that I can use the database I have created for the AlsoBought.
But the two options are different : RP is really to propose complementary product, and AB more similar products. Also RP seems not so easy to use : it is not possible to define the numbers of product to list !
For the AB, I have lock to prevent from creating a new file, and I can create manually the AB, but it could interesting to understand why we can modify it manually, modify it by making copy / paste for some product, but no possibility to import the full list.

I try again, and now it is OK. I proceed step by step, copy 200 cells, update, if it crashes get the copy, copy again ... At the end of the day, I have a product in the database which doesn't accept the AlsoBought product I manually added. I don't know why ?
I will check with the technical service from Actinic !
