we could but we have run survey and most people who use or have used our site or competitors sites need a search option on the side (the majority of peoeple who buy a bed online are price matching and therefore want to search their product asap)

ok tried using the AUG and creating 3 customsearch.fil all named seperately each containing the above detials. then added the coding to the form and still nothing is happening.

I have basically seperated one section search into three and its now not working in relation to the rest. can any one help please?

4 shameless bumps will have undoubtedly put paid to any forum help you will get - you really have extracted the urine. Your best hope now is actinic, who will not respond if you keep bumping the bloody thread.

Have a tiny bit of etiquette perleassssssssssse. You've slammed this forum of late, if noone wants to help you, investigate other avenues, don't keep bumping your threads - we've read it, we just don't want to/can't help.

                      Hi Sinead

I think you've misunderstood the fix in the Advanced User Guide. The fix with the customsearch.fil files would allow you to EITHER search by price OR search by section - it doesn't filter the search by price and then by section.

For your search, you don't need to customise the fil files. You will just have all the search tools on one page. What you can do is customise the HTML to say - 'Stage 1: Enter some Keywords', 'Stage 2: Select a price' etc. etc.

Also, with regards to Lee's comments - this forum is not the place to go to if you need instant support. That's available directly from Actinic. If a thread goes unanswered for two working days (as yours has now done) you'll get a response from one of the team (i.e. me)

thank you chris for your helpful comments. lee on the other hand, the forum is for asking questions, and although some of your answers have been useful and much appreciated, there always underlies a cynical undertone in your answers. may i suggest either not replying or some form of hobby. thank you to everyone else for you help though!

I am always cynical towards people taking the mic most definitely. It took 2 days of no response to make you look in the AUG and try and help yourself, that is an absolute joke in my eyes. You want things handed on a plate, it is a help service, a push in the right direction, not a free design service where you get impatient and bump a thread 4 times for heavens sake.

If you don't like my tone, i suggest you block my future postings, just like i am about to with your junk.

just for notification, I used the Aug before initiallising the first post. I use the AUG like my bible as i suggest to everyone. this is the first time designing a site with actinic and i have had some complex things that i have not known how to do and has not been described in the AUG and everyone else has been great. thanks to everyone. Lee, however is using a faceless method which is both cowardly and pointless. I hope he manages to treat other new users with the more respect as i feel a valuable tool will other wise not be used by new people like myself.

There has been alot of discussion within this community of late primary talking about its role.

There are alot of people who use it in place of Actinic support and then become frustrated because they don't get the help they ask for. The official view from Actinic is that it is not for support, it is a community for sharing ideas.

If you require help coding and are not prepared to pay someone - ie Actinic cover or a designer - you can ask here- but you can not demand a reply as everyone, with the except of actinic staff, are volunteers who choose who to reply to.

In the case of this thread it was being ignored by others as it was quite blatantly demanding free services, you chose then to bump the thread where again it was ignored. Eventually Lee stepped in told you why you were being ignored and it was unlikely you were going to get a free piece of custom work from a volunteer. As ChrisD says it is his job to pick up on unanswered threads, but this might be a few days later

You seem to view the community as a source of free help that you can demand..... this it is not.
