popup on component name

Hi

I have products which are entirely made up from components (but no choices). The components are listed for each product (I'm using ComponentDisplayLabel, which seems to work), and I was wondering how to provide a popup (or page) link on each component, that goes to that component for additional info about it (using the component product description). I can't seem to find a ComponentURL variable or equivalent.

Any thoughts?

I thought I might be able to do this via the simplesearch script. I have tried to use Product ID in the ss but can't make it happen.

I've got a messy solution to this; by passing the component name to the simple search script, I can get a results page with the component listed, but also with items that component goes into also listed, and potentially similarly named components. Not ideal - I really want to go straight to the component product's page.

Perhaps if I set up a custom variable 'Product or Component' I can then use advanced search to only find component products, but this is an extra step for the client (setting the variable) and still only gets me to a search results page.

There must be a way to get the component product ID within the component list...
