Seperate column count for products and fragments

I have a site where the product column count is 4, but I want to add a fragment to the head of the page. Trouble is, Actinic (designer 8.5.1) shoehorns the fragment into a column space rather than the full width.
How can I override this ?

The solution lies in amanding the 'List layout settings'. Get the first row to only use one column.

I wish to do the same but my fragment is at the bottom of the screen. How can I achieve this?

Similarly use the "last row" option .. this is typically set to "not used"

I only have options for first columns or section lists. No last row choice

In the 'list layout settings' you have a top, middle and bottom option, we call it the Michael Barrymore.

I am getting really confused by this.

I have looked at all the settings for the page where I wish to make the change also in site settings and am unable to find any of the text that you mention.

I have looked at changing various layouts but non of them give me any of the mentioned options.

I am using V8.05 which was an upgrade from V7.06 if that helps.

I have also tried this to no avail.

Best way i find of getting to them is to be in design tab, select an area on the page and then keep clicking the upward arrow, it will take you up to it then. It has an orange line of text saying "click here to edit list layout settings". Thats where you want to get to.

Many thanks lee, manged to change it with the details that you gave.

The fragment does now display as I want it across the two columns, however it has also moved the right bar of new products and best sellers to the bottom left.

I think I will put this one on the back burner as I have more important stuff to do. I didn't think that just adding a fragment would cause so much trouble.

That will only be a width issue Jason, you are probably trying to squeeze something 600 wide into a 550 space for example. Check your fragment widths or give us a URL to see.

I don't currently have this live, only on preview.

I do think it is a problem with fragment widths as when I changed settings and uploaded, some other pages were affected. I have since fixed but will look into the widths issue.

Perhaps you didn't code it correctly then? Did you use 'colspan'?
