a problem with product ref

do the product refs, get recycled?

if i make a product, and then delete it, will its ref number ever be recycled?

same goes for any item that actinic puts in the DB.

what gets recycled and what does not?

It gets made available for use again after being deleted, then purged.

If you've `lost` one you can always go into manual id'ing and enable it again...

what i'm actually looking for is a way to track an item, permenantly.

see, if an items id changes, how am i to know that the new item taking its place, is a different item?

i mean, what if the entire product description was changed, and the title and the image and price?

it would look like a new item, so my tracking would be lost.

any ideas?

Stuff you want history on... dont delete, just `hide` it until you get it, or its replacement in again. I've a hidden section for items like that.

looking into it, its actually not possible, the way i was thinking.

i wanted to track products for a rudimentary reviews addon.

and the tracking was simply to ensure that the correct comments were shown on the correct product, and not one that was recently recycled.

i thought of using productref as a key to display this review data, but as you say, its not reliable as a link to the actual product.
