    Removing Select Country Dropdown Box

    Hi

I'm trying to remove the dropdown boxes for the select country option on the checkout page but am not having much luck.

There are a couple of posts which provide workarounds but these still show the country. What I'd like to do is to completely remove any reference to this. I know it can be done as I've see it on a couple of sites, one of them being this:
    http://www.naturallytoyou.co.uk/cgi-bin/ca000002.pl

Does anyone have any idea as to how I can achieve this please?

    Thanks in advance

    Michael

The solution is simple shipping and simple tax.

mmhhh... that's no good. I need to charge different shipping charges based on total value of the goods (don't tell Lee - he'll have a fit if he finds out that I' not using ship by weight ) Simple shipping just gives a single flat rate.

      Thanks anyway.

Ok, in that case make sure you only have the zone you want to ship to on the 'Shipping & Handling', then on the Tax tab, make sure you have only the Zone you want to ship to listed there, make sure to click on the 'Tax not levied' zone and then select 'Do not allow 'None of the Above' as a Zone Member'.

        Kind regards,

Sorry Bruce, that's not made any difference.

Attached are screenshots of what I've done. Any other idea?

          Many thanks for your time.

BTW.... Unusual for an Actinic bod to be working on a saturday, and a saturday evening at that!!

I see advanced tax, not simple tax selected. You need to disallow shipping, if band not defined too, you may already have this selected as i can't see.

I'll help you convert to weight shipping in the next month or so, join the list of people who don't at the start and then convert in the not too distant future - welcome to the club.

In order for Bruce's 2nd set of instructions to work, I had to set the tax to advanced.

I've also tried setting the disallow shipping but it makes no difference.

The only other workaround I can think of is to set the text to white ie. same colour as my background. I've tried Font Color but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how I could do it please?

I'm understanding that you want to ship to uk only. If you remove the locations not required, select simple tax and do not allow shipping if not defined, you will remove the country drop down box i assure you, i do it on 95% of the builds i do and it never fails.

If you can't get it to work, provide screenshots of each screen and i will show you what you have not done correctly.

                  Hi Lee

I managed to get rid of the dropdown listbox before, but I've still applied what you've suggested.

I don't think I explained myself properly in my OP (duh!!). What I really want to do is to completely remove all reference to United Kingdom. At the moment, the screen displays: "Please note we only deliver to: United Kingdom". How do I get rid of that line altogether without getting the error msg that Country is required?

FTTB I've set it to "Please note..." but ideally I'd like to get rid of it altogether.

                  Many thanks for your help.

could you edit the layout ?,
                    • set "united kingdom" as pre-selected (the default)
                    • "hide the actual dropdown"
                    - the software carries on as though nothing happened.

Yep that would be my approach too, hide the label and make the input box hidden.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I have UK as default and no dropdown showing, as per Lee's suggestion and the other posts on this forum.

In order to completely hide United Kingdom:

                        Do as in post #8
If you remove the locations not required, select simple tax and do not allow shipping if not defined, you will remove the country drop down box
set up an a new class called invisible in Actinic sytlesheet with colour set to whatever your background colour is

amend the following lines within Delivery Location:

                        <span class="invisible"><Actinic:Variable Name="LocationPrompt"/></span>

                        <span class="invisible"> <actinic:variable name="DeliveryCountryList" /></span>

That's it. You won't see message saying we only deliver to the UK. Sorted!

Thanks to everyone for their time and assistance.

                          Hi

On our site we only ship to the uk (screen as per below)

                          Country: United Kingdom

Tick this box if you will want your order delivered to an address which is different to the credit/debit card holder's address

We have just moved to integrated labels (so should have done that at the beginning!) but the address prints out the UK bit prints out on the delivery address. Royal Mail get the hump about this as the last part of the address should be the post code. If I follow your additional steps ont his post to get rid of the display completely will it remove the UK from the address label? Or is there a simpler way of doing it? I don't have it as a field in my address data entry.

                          Cheers D x
