Text search to include custom variables

    Hi

I'm so sick of these customer variables

I have tried everything to get a text search field to search for custom variables. I would have assummed it would have been easy just indexing the pages... but no.

    Anyone got any clues?

    Cheers

When you created the variable - did you tick the searchable box?

Think you need to click the Upload tick box too!!!

Otherwise, any other information you can supply us?

          OK lets step back here

open the variables under the library, create you new variable under what ever group you like, i always use general, then open the variable, then basic defination tab, and make sure you have a tick in section and product, if you want tick allow parent as an option

change type to list of choices,
          tick searchable
          tick upload
          initial value use parent
top level what ever you want as defualt

          Now click values tab

          then add your choices

Now Click advanced palce of settings

          tick section and product

Then when you go to your products you need to select what ever value you need. Then go to your search settings, open the searchable products tab and add your variable

Others may have a slightly different way of doing it but it works for me

Basically the client wants to be able to type into the text box "bulbs" and a list of all the products with bulbs appear.

Or do i have to go back to the bloody drop down lists?

              Kim,

If all your products that are bulbs have the word mentioned either in the short description or the full description then they should be brought up with a simple search. Guess that is why you have not had any responses on this since your comment.

              Kind regards,
