Item Shipped Mails Getting Marked As Spam

    Hi everybody,

Recently, a client has been getting a lot of his actinic e-mails bouncing back. It appears to be getting marked as spam, as this is the "Mail Delivery Failed" mail that he is receiving

    > SMTP error from remote mailer after end of data:
    > host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]: 550 Spamming not allowed

Confusingly, it is only the e-mail that is sent when an order has been shipped. Other emails (appear) to be getting through okay.

Has anybody got any suggestions to what the problem is and how to fix it, as we're clueless

The IP address might be blacklisted.

Check on some of the blacklists and see if that's what's happening.

Hmmmm....I've checked a few blacklists and it's saying that the IP address associated with it is not on any lists. It's a bit peculiar, as other emails get through okay, it's just the shipping emails that are getting stopped.

Ok. Well there are really only three things I can think of that can cause an email to be bounced back as spam.

        1. Sent from a blacklisted domain/IP address.

        2. Spammy content and/or titles. You can find email spam checkers online that will evaluate the text of the email. Avoid the obvious words like 'free', 'sex' 'viagra', etc.

        3. People identifying the email as spam to their spam filters. Often this will go unseen as this is mostly done on the PC but some such as yahoo, etc have this on their web mail accounts.

You can post the email title and content here if you want us to take a look. Other than that you're going to have to do the work yourself as you're not giving us any information to investigate.

PS. You might also check that your customer is sending email from the correct domain. Get him to send you one of the emails and look at the email headers to see if anything looks odd there.
