How Too add a cart/basket link to navbar

I have deleted the view cart/basket link from the header as it interferred with the company logo but I am completely lost how to add it back into the nav links.
    See attached image.
I think it's important to have this link to the basket as opposed to just the checkout button as the basket allows change of quantities etc.
In VERY simple terms how can I add a view cart/basket link into the position shown in the attached picture. Theme is Executive.
    Many thanks in advance.

These will probably be held in the layout called something like "Horizontal Nav Bar Images".. in the design tab simply click on one of the links that is there and navigate up a level using the yellow swirl icon bottom left of the code window.

Here you will see the pink layout selectors .. click at the end and click the pink "insert layout" icon at the top ... click the "fixed layout" option and type "nav" into the list names containing ... select the "NavigationIcon" option at the top and then the correct Button from the fixed layouts beneath.

Alternatively in the library find the main holding layout in use eg "Horizontal Nav Bar Images" and right click > revert to factory default.

I'm finding customising a nav bar with a mix of regular (Home, Search, etc) and brochure page (FAQ, Feedback, etc) links a pain in the chocolate starfish as well.

Jont, awesome, I have really struggled with this sort of thing and this solution works a treat. Once I have some spare time (yeah right) I think a course on V8 with actinic in Surrey is on the cards. Is it worth the cost and do you know if it covers this sort of customisation stuff etc.
        thanks once again.
