AOIndex is not an index in this table

MS v8.5.0 crashed whilst adding a fragment with an error message "unable to read blah blah from memory" and promptly closed. The site will not open although I can launch a default site via command prompt, switching sites back to the corrupted site kills Actinic again.

Opening the ActinicCatalog.mdb provides the following error pop-up:

"AOIndex is not an index in this table"

Several OK's later and Access sits there with nothing opened. All other databases open into Access fine.

Unable to open the site in Actinic to compact database. Unable to open the database in Access to repair. "Thankfully" only lost 1 hours work and managed to license a new site and import the previous snapshot.

Any ideas on what the "AOIndex" is and can the database be repaired?

    Jont,

That database of yours is corrupted. Development have the snapshot and are working on recovering it.

    Kind regards,

Anyone any ideas on what the AOIndex is as can this be repaired?

Support returned the database but the error is still evident, 3 weeks on an not able to add a section is getting a little annoying to say the least.

John - untested, but if you have Access, create a new database, then bring over one table at a time from the corrupt database using File | Get External Data | Import.

Just a possibility that the data import script may find and repair an error that cannot otherwise be surfaced.

AOIndex will be the name of an index on the table, you can compact and repair a database by going into control panel, administrative tools, selecting the DSN and clicking on the option to repair or to compact. My Spellchecker program also has a database repair option (this is safer to use that the ODBC one if you are using MU, both are the same if you are not).

            Thanks for the suggestions.

@Bill - the same AOIndex error arises when trying to import any data.. it does not allow me to pick any tables as the error starts upon first pointing to the database.

@Jan - the repair (via control panel - single user database) showed as successful but would still not open. The compact option gave a warning "features in this version are not available with databases with older formats".. I am using Access 2002 SP3

I was completely wrong - it's a standard Access error, it means that the access system tables are corrupt.

This can sometimes be corrected by running the Jetcomp utility, you can get that from here :

              http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295334

Failing that contact Actinic because they have the power to mend broken databases (well sometimes anyway - sometimes they are too far gone to mend).

                  Thanks for the link Jan.

Still no joy though. ACD is back with Actinic to see if their magic wand can resolve.

Thankfully everything else is working accept the ability to add new products after creating a new section.
