one of the other benefits is that "ems" scale well when you use the "resize text" options within the browsers. - if you use a fixed "11px" in a style, then thats what you get "11px" regardless of how you try to increase your browsers text size.

depends on the browser FF will resize px fonts, IE does not

george, i knw its not font related, but you might consider a very light tint behind your navigation, to break up the layout a little..

or perhaps something to split it from the body text?

the design is great, but on my screen, its a little blinding, with all that green and white text.
