Import flat file problem

I am trying to import a flat file to update a product already listed. I have selected 'update' in the wizard and specified the section name in the file. The import works but although the section name exists it always creates a new section with the same name and loads the product there instead of in the existing section.

Are you sure it is the same section name, and not slightly different ie different case or spacing?

Sorry, I should have said that I am trying to add the product to a sub-section by using the pipe separator. This is when it creates a new section and sub-section. Surely you should be able to add new products to existing sub sections?

yes you can, this is why i suspect a slight difference in format. I've done it myself, transposed one upper case char for a lower.....

have you got a screen dump of the resultany content tree within actinic?

I have just sorted it.

I entered the section name into the import file like so: section | subsection

This appears to create a new section and subsection even if it already exists.

Remove the spaces and it just updates into the existing: section|subsection
