    Cart Emptying on checkout

    Hello everybody,

I have been searching through this forum all afternoon trying to find an answer to my problem.

I have tried many of the suggestions I found, but to no avail.

    I have a site at www.yachtchandlers.co.uk

I can add a product to the cart and it shows up no problems. But when I ckick on checkout the cart empties.

I realise that this seems to be because it is not heading into the SSL version etc.

I have www and http:// in all the instances in the options etc.

I do notice, that with something in the cart, when I hover over the checkout button I get the following link shown...

    http://www.yachtchandlers.co.uk/cgi-...fEpirbs%2ehtml

Now, this to me does not look right. Some sort of encoding thing or something, swapping the / for %3a etc etc.

So, as the browser is looking for a page that does not exist (wrong link) it clears the cart and returns the user back to the home page.

Does anyone know what is going on??

    Cheers for any help

Nuts - looking at the link I posted above in this foirum, it looks correct, but on the yachtchandlers site it has a lot of %20 type stuff instead of / and : and . etc etc

    looks like this

    http%3a%2f%2fwww%2eyachtchandlers%2eco%2euk%2facatalog%2fEpirbs

I have tried taking the site out of SSL to see if it was something to do with the Network setup etc.

But this has not solved the problem. I am now getting the call to action the cgi script outside of the secure area but still with the silly characters.

      dlers.co.uk/cgi-bin/os000001.pl?ACTION=Start&REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2eyachtchandlers%2eco%2euk%2facatalog%2fEpirbs%2ehtml

It does look I have an encoding problem

I was about to start a thread with this same problem but noticed this one. We are having this problem on http://www.boxfashion.co.uk/. We have noticed that although the bounce page says that the cart is empty it actually isn't. It did used to work and we have made no settings changes to stop it working. I've gone over all the settings I can find and it all looks to be set up ok both within Actinic and with our shared SSL provider. My limited knowledge of these things suggests to me that there may be some kind of timeout issue maybe? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks

        Roy.

I just went to your site Roy, and after selecting a country etc headed into the secure area without a problem. Using firefox.

But you say that you are getting bounced back with the cart is empty message??

Maybe there are some strange cookie things going on on our repective machines. As you have been working on your site, you are getting the error, but I am not here - and visa versa

Could you have a go at heading into the checkout area on my yachtchandlers site?

              I dunno

This is why I am throwing myself on the mercy of the clever bods in this forum.

I did notice that your checkout link does have all the %20 stuff in it, but it works for me (your site), and takes me through to the checkout pages

I have tried your site Grant and I don't seem to be able to actually add anything to the cart. It goes through the motions but the items/value values stay at 0 and there is nothing in the cart when I click on view cart.

I just tried your site Roy - the cart showed correctly so not sure what the problem is.

Just a thought Grant. Starting from the top, which version are you running? I had the same problem with basic version 8 but when patched, purged and updated, my site was fine. If you haven't patched recently, do so and see what happens. I believe there was a problem with the way that cookies held (or not held) items through from the cart to checkout.

Strange maybe this is a cookie thing then.

It is the latest download of Actinic 8 as of 3 days ago. But the contents are imported from a prior version of V7. There are a lot of products that have been deleted, but not purged yet. I will try to purge the the damn thing, do a site refresh and see what happens.....

There is a number of problems with cookies, always a good place to start, especially when you have been testing the site in various ways.

A classic i get when working on a test site is it serves up a page from the live site for no reason, a clear out of cookies and history normally sorts it

So... if 2 people have tried the site for the first time and it works, but when I try from various other pc's that have accessed the site before, would that suggest that this cookie problem is to blame? The site is still running on the version we installed back when the site launched.

Roy - cross post, there are many facters that influence sites, it can even be you isp cacheing pages aswell as cookies, but thats the easiest and best place to start - i dont do server sidethings and sure someone will correct me

Nope - purging the database of deleted products - then doing a ful site refresh did not work

The problem persists. I can add an item to the cart, and it adds it to the Cart total in the top of the page and takes me to a page that details my cart.

But when I click on either checkout link, I am returned to a page that says "Your cart is Empty" and then bounced back to the home page or back to the product page.

I have taken the site out of SSL to get it fixed non-SSL first then I can test it with SSL

Can anybody shed any more light on why this shop is not retaining its cart and heading into the checkout area??

                              Please
