Default Thumbnail Image

OK... So I am totally illeterate as far as block if's go...
What I want to do is set a default image for a thumbnail. At the moment I don't have product images for a number of new products. The default product image takes care of this by displaying a "No image available" piccy. But the thumbnail shows up as a missing image (ie. one of those squares with a x in it). I want the thumbnail to either show a smaller version of the default product image (this would be too small to read) or preferably just an empty white gif. Just looking for a temporary quick fix as I am going to make product photos in the next week or so.

Create a clear thumbnail image and apply it to a product. Then open the database and in the product table find that product and note what is included into the thumbnail image field and copy that into all of the empty fields.
I would prefer you to do a blockif, but if they are double dutch, that may be easier. Please backup before you do anything though.

Thanks Lee,
How I have "solved" my temporary problem is to make a default thumbnail image and then insert this into the thumbnail field... bit of a pain but I can live with that.
Problem I found... (possible bug) is that the image was not carried through to the duplicates. The only way I could get the image to display was to reset the duplicate to the parent layout and then reapply my duplicate layout.
Anyway it now looks acceptable until I get my photos

I had to go into every duplicate and click "reset" in there for it to appear.
Quicker may have been to uncheck the "modifiable in duplicate" box for the thumbnail image in the duplicate settings...it'd probably have copied straight over thenTracey
