Checkout Payment Method Fields

Hi,

I would prefer to have customer entry fields not relevant to the payment method not displayed or greyed out. For example, if selecting the pay by cheque method, having 8 credit card data fields still displayed is not helpful to the customer.

Actinic support advise that it is not possible to achieve what I'm after as it would require PHP. Does anyone know of a workaround solution?
