The guide I used from Actinic to set up the software indicated that the scprits should be .plx, this is something to do with IIS as the allowed scripts end in .plx (I Think).

I will make a note to look at this again when I get to the computer that has Actinic installed.

This is quite a long thread but did you already try resetting your product layout to default.

Whoops again something I dont know how to do! I think I should look at alternative shopping cart software something a little easier to use.

Try this - first snapshot and backup your site.

In Content View click on a product, go to the Layout tab and see what the Product Layout is set to - note this. Now go to the Design Library and select the Layouts tab, find the layout you noted (probably under Products) right click on the layout you noted and select to Revert To Factory.

              Upload and try it out.

Thanks, I have followed what you have said so far but there is no context menu when I right click on the layout.

So just to clarify - you went to Design - Design Library - found the layout in the list under Products - right clicked on the layout but had no context menu?

Sorry, this proves how new I am to this software, I have now found the area you were talking about and rest to factory default.

I now have a problem with the software as it says there are coding issues and then the software crashes.

This seems to prove that there are errors in layouts.

It is difficult to explain as you can imagine. You can do either of these two things right now: 1. restore the snapshot you made (as I suggested to do before reverting to default) or restore an earlier one. or 2. Copy the snapshot and any any specific files you have as well as the complete Site1 folder (and and an export of your network settings) to another location - then uninstall Actinic and reinstall it.

It's drastic but to be honest it may be the best and quickest solution - something's obviously got messed up in one of the layouts or something. When you have reinstalled don't customize anything until you have successfully uploaded and fully tested the site in it's default state. You can then start to make any changes you want whilst maintaining many snapshots as you go so you can revert at any time.

Well ahead of you, program is being uninstalled as I type this.

Do I need to delete all of the files on the server?

not meaning to make things more complicated than they already are, David. But when you uninstalled Actinic, did you also delete all the Actinic V8 folders before reinstalling? You need to

Yes I deleted the folder before reinstalling. I have just installed on another pc and everything worked fine. Not sure what is going on, could there be any issues with running this software on Vista as other PC was XP.

Could be Vista depending which version you're running.
You should be running v8.5.1. Also see this thread:
