    Fail error message when trying to import catalogue

    Im trying to import one version 8 sites catalogue into another version 8 site

    all necessary variables are set, such as tax, business setting etc

    i have deleted all picture file references, and the stuff im importing does not exist on the current catalogue...........yet this is the errror message i get

    Line 261: A product with this reference already exist in another section
    Line 352: A product with this reference already exist in another section
    Line 366: A product with this reference already exist in another section
    Line 164: A product with this reference already exist in another section
    Line 95: A product with this reference already exist in another section
    Line 114: A product with this reference already exist in another section
    Line 130: A product with this reference already exist in another section
    section
    can someone please help me on this, ive been trying to import this catalogue for days and it does not work, whats the point in havign a computer if i need to re do all the catalogue manually

    has anyone had any experience of importing catalogues??

      Yep, I've done a few

      Take it back to basics. Reduce the import to a flat file that contains the minimum info required (which should include relative path to all the required images that you have already copied into the new site's folder).

        i have just deleted all the image references, as they dont take long to do, the flat file import fails also

        but i need the products, and attributes as this is very time consuming

        is there any other advice on offer

          In the online help, under Importing, there are details of what fields are accepted in a flat file product import, and (perhaps more important for you) it shows which fields are REQUIRED to be included in your flat file.
