Is there a way of uploading a page but hiding it from the navigation?

I'm thinking there must be but can't work out how!
I am adding some new sections etc and want to upload them but don't want them visible on the website so need them to be excluded from navigation links etc (I just want to be able to go directly to the page)

Is there a way to do this?

    blockif sectionnamevariable != sectionname's name

I have the section set up in my normal section navigation though...so how ( perhaps where) do I apply this?
It's just a sub section of my "Maternity shop" section and I can't for the life of me work out how to hide it but have it up there

(most frustratingly, I'm sure it's just me being slow!)

Remember to turn off 'Include in Sitemap' too.

that part I managed to do
but I just can't work out where to put the blockif to exclude the section from the collapso menu/section lists..

I'm trial and erroring...actually...might just do another snapshot first lol

Don't have collapso so not sure on that one. It will probably have to be wrapped round <a><a/> tags though. Although, I'm guessing it's confused by some nift PHP stuff if it's collapso!

hmmm..perhaps this is something I might change my mind about doing then
I've ventured into the collapos code once or twice before to fiddle and it makes me nervous!
Mind you...now my snapshot is done (or, when it eventually finishes, I should say ) I suppose I can fiddle with minimal risk..
I'll take a look and see

Cheers, David (did the sun shine on you at all?)

funny you should say that, Duncan, I had just opened it up and was heading that way!
Am going to have a look myself first...I hate asking without at least making half a dozen failed attempts first!

ok..several hours of attempts later and I've achieved half-results but nothing completely successful.
I've managed to stop it showing various bits..but not the whole lot.. so i've posted on the Drillpine forum..
you watch..I bet it's something simple..

right..now to work out how to hide it on my section page! LOL I'm sure that SHOULD be simple

typical...minutes after I admit defeat, a last ditch attemps gets it!

section and subsections now hidden from both collapso menu and section page, "include in sitemap" is unchecked...one more thing... can I exclude these items from the search results?
Or is that pushing my luck?

Pushing your luck. Spell the keywords wrong to miss the search.

Let us know what you did then.

hmmm..not really an option...perhaps I'll just uncheck all the "can be ordered online" boxes to avoid people ordering them if they do happen to stumble across them.
You'd think, in V8, there would be a way to set up a blockif to prevent specific products (or even sections) appearing in the search results.

I did come across this being "put on the wishlist" way back in 2003, in my forum search!

I will when my brain is fully working but I'm currently trying to will my upload to get a move on and finish so I can go up and see to my ill 4yo who is shouting for me (and doesn't want Daddy who is up there already)

should have left the upload til I got to the office in the morning, it'd be done in a fraction of the time!

ooh...actually, I think I have, by accident, got it excluded from the search anyway!
I have a custom variable for "size" that is in my search as an "AND" searchable property.
It's set at section level for all the products within my size sections and non-sized items have an entry of N/A also included in the searchable property so EVERY item has something....except my new sections, because I haven't added the specific size/colour items yet, just the main products so there is no entry in this searchable property...and so it's not being picked up on the search!

Accidental but effective! (and I hope it made sense!)
                            Right...must see to 4yo!
