links to associated products in shopping cart

A good number of items in BB are main products with hidden associated products.
These items, when added to the cart, don't give a hyperlink to the product like the single products do (obviously because I'm using the associated products details as the orderline and there is no way to link to that product)

Is it possible to create a variable for these hidden/associated products...that would somehow create a hyperlink, in the cart, to the main product?

I'm thinking it ought to be possible..but I'm not entirely convinced it is....or how!

Is it the fact that products such as ""New Dorothy Perkins Maternity Shorts" do not have create a hyperlink on the shopping cart you want to add?

Well yes...although I know why the hyperlinks aren't there.
Because I have the products (well...a number of them) set up to use associated product names etc and often these are hidden
THIS ITEM is a good example.
Adding a selection from the choices for this product adds a hidden associated product to the cart which, inevitably, has no hyperlink.
What I'd really like is for the hidden product in the cart to link to the MAIN product from which it was selected.
Is that even remotely possible?

Hi Tracey,

On a default site a hyperlink is created for a product in the shopping cart if you are using associated products or not. There must be some setting within your site preventing this from working, but I cant recreate the problem.

Please can I take a look at a support snapshot of your site so that I can investigate this further? My email address is pmsupport / @ / Actinic.co.uk.

ok paul, thanks, I'll get in contact with you about that.
I'm assuming it's not linking because the product going INTO the cart is the associated product and NOT the product in the catalogue.. I'd always assumed that's just how it worked!
I'll get a snapshot sorted although it'll most likely be too big to email (approx 50mb)

Hi Tracey,

I have asked our development team to investigate this issue for you.

The reason a hyperlink to the products with componants is not appearing in the shopping cart is because you have "No Order Line for main product" ticked on products such as "NEW Dorothy Perkins Maternity Walking Shorts".

Once you do this, it will only show the choice, in which case it has no hyperlink. The same happens on a default site also, I'm afraid there is not a workaround for this.

I know that.
I did say several times that I knew why it wasn't showing a hyperlink (because it is showing the associated product in the cart, not the main item)

What I was hoping was that there would be some way to get the cart to display the main product link in these cases but obviously not.
