Free product over £40

Is there a way to add a free product to all orders over a certain value eg: £40
If you look at our homepage there is a banner promising a free gift set when you spend over £40 and although we are sending the set when we receive an order it would be nice for it to appear in the shopping basket Any ideas.

This has been covered before with several solutions. Check out the thread started by Pinbrook about the knowledge base .. there is a solution about adding extra upsell to the cart area where you can get them to add the free gift (in combination with a discount set up in the discount settings)

I must be losing it... found the pinbrook KB thread in the wishlist forum OK but no mention of auto upsell?
I don,t want to appear as one of those' lets just start a thread because I can't be bothered to search for it' types but I can't find it!
