problems with vista

i am running my site which is v8.5.1 from a pc with windows xp
i would like to put it onto my laptop which is windows vista, everytime i try the website is different in that it misses out my store sections.
why is this happening when i load it onto a vista, it works fine on my xp computer but the cart corrupts as well. actinic say it is compatible but it obviously is not as i cant run it from a vista computer.
anybody help me with this please?

How are you importing the snapshot into the site on the vista machine? What options do you choose when importing? Do you get any errors, if you do, what are they?
