    Our Site

    Hi Guys,

We're quite new to the whole online business experience and would appretiate any helpful/structured comments with regard to our website?

    www.cuckoomarketing.co.uk

For example, does that page run well? Is it user friendly? Is there anything we should add/remove or modify?

All comments appretiated, especially critisism as it will only help us to get better

    nice site!
ok, I do have one comment though
Looking at your pages... eg THIS ONE... I would usually expect either
    a) details for all the products on this page so I can buy without viewing further pages OR
    b) the "more" link to take me to a single product page, with add to cart button etc and NOT a pop up window.

Really, I think a pop up should be used for ADDITIONAL information but, in your case, you have ALL of your information in it.

If this is the way you prefer it, then IMO, you should make your extended info page an "opens in same window" page with add to cart etc

However, if you're going down this route...you might as well make your main product listings (as in the page I linked before) section lists and make the single product pages as single products within a section as this will get them indexed better and will detail your sitemap more.

    JMO, of course

(Also, that link above..you have one item with the photo above..and one with it to the side...looks a bit odd)

Might be worth studying the AUG for info on making single product pages OR putting some info on the main listings pages, if that's what you prefer.

      Buttons

The HOME button seem to resize as you mouse-over. Bit odd.

The Corgi toy graphic (linked) on the home page seems a bit lost as do the others. They look like eye candy but I think they are there for a purpose? Maybe add a title?

That is quite an eclectic mix of products! My site ended up a bit like that (I moved on from ebay and had a strange mix of goods); from experience it might put customers off if they do not think you are a 'specialist' site. For the future think about separate sites for each product line?

Glass Paints - can the customer choose a colour?

Wedding Stationary - watch the spelling "These invites are made to order, please contact us before odering to find out our current lead time"

Overall it is looking good but maybe ask a third party to sit with you and browse. This is always an insight!

A few things that I notice.

        1. The logo could do with some work and there's some wasted white space that could be used to advertise delivery info/phone number/etc.
        2. The Home button rollover on the section pages is wrong.
        3. I couldn't find any address until checkout T&Cs
        4. I agree with Tracey's comments regarding the more info pages - all your info is in there and probably not going to get indexed
        5. Checkout now button in cart is not matching rest of buttons

Most importantly consider options such as single product per section page or/and all descriptive text in your product long description and only a larger image in the pop up.

Thanks guys for your comments so far,

After reading each comment, and checking the site i agree with most if not all of the comments made! I shall have a tinker over the weekend to try and change a few things around!

By all means keep the constructive comments coming, we are keen to learn but as I am sure all of you know when working as a small team sometimes you get stuck for ideas!

          Cheers

The only comment I would make that hasn't been made is the log in button. You don't mention anywhere on the site about customer account so I presume that the log in button is irrelevant?

In my experience almost every site that I go to purchase something where they ask me to sign up to an account before I purchase, I leave without buying from that site. If you have no need for customer accounts I would remove the button as it might deter prospective buyers.

Having said all that I have seen on your site what I want for my birthday in September so I shall be sending your url to my friends for my wish list

its a bit plain sir, i'd consider some additions to the default template.

              perhaps some images?

Main thing for me is no impact on hitting the page. Because your logo takes its time to animate (would get rid of it personally), i have no idea what you do. Valuable real estate going to waste at the top of the page.

Gift sites (as with most sites) need a wow factor or at least something that catches your eye within the first few seconds.

Stationery is spelt with an 'e' also.

My first reaction was the same - its very ordinary. It could do with a wow factor.

Personally I don't like the name cuckoomarketing. Anything with the word marketing conjures up a marketting co, not a shop.
