    Customer Login

I have searched for this but no real answers to the following

To be honest I am getting inundated with "domestic" customers who don't know what they want/doing/ask non related questions etc,etc - I'm sure you may have had this so I thought "that's it, I've had enough"

So I turned on the Login facility, however, it's not how I thought it would work at all, in other words the site owner has to create an account for the customer to login in the first place (which I do not know how to do) but what if you don't have any customers, ie; a new site? - the login facilty is then useless??

So, is it possible to make the site login in only, like lots of other sites require you to login and taking a few minutes of your time to complete then the "customer" can shop away as it were - like a php forum type of thing

Hope you know what I mean here

Accounts have to be setup by you, nothing dynamic about it at all. Customer asks for one, you then set it up and email them the details. Then they login using the info.

You can set up a dummy product, with no cost and no shipping and they buy this in order for you to get all the info you need to set an account up. Once you download the order, there is a shortcut button to create an account from the info they have given.

Have a look at this site (create account button) for an example.

Stay away from mandatory accounts if you can, the biggest turn off on a website for lots of people.

I thought someone might say that as this is EXACTLY what I feel about having to register with every bloomin site under the sun, it's a pain in the harris IMO but a question I did want an answer or views on and so you have so I will forget it for a while

      thank you

I've had a look at the link you gave me Lee and TBO I can now see the lack of point in the "create an account" as it doesn't do any thing different than "auto fill" does (unless you delete your cookies of course) and I can't honestly see people bothering with creating an account if most are one of buyers

        hmmmmmm - and bugger!

Just noticed you done this site!!!! nice video captions an'll!! very well done and a deffo for fireworks

thanks for your time on this and BTW Actinic should pay you a few quid for being on here as you have a knack of giving mild advice, yet not telling people exactly how to do things, in other words, people will do it on their own in the end......

read my Nav Link post and you'll know I cracked it

        OK, enough of this slush............!

        Cheers
