newbie questions - macs, remote working and stock code gubbins.

    1) Anyone running V8 on Parallels on a mac?

    2) I run our companies website, but I work 75 miles away from our warehouse in a shed at the bottom of my garden (with internet access) - any problems with running V8 in terms of me managing the website, and them processing orders?

    3) When I create options on a product, do those options have their own stock code/skus? (I've only played with Express, which doesn't, clearly).

    2. No. Simply disable the maintenance features on their installation. We do the same albeit across a LAN and not the internet.

    3. Options can be assigned as products - these can be hidden and the main product set to use their details accordingly. There are several threads about components / options and stock monitoring (mainly from budgetbumps) which may be worth checking out.

There was a post about this not too long ago. Search for parallels.

Cheers for that jont... It seems to be at odds with what some Actinic tech bod has just told one of our employees.

Is anyone else using remote working?

we do this too. I manage a site, and my client processes orders only.

I add products etc, upload the site etc and the client still downloads orders unhindered. From time to time I get a snapshot from the client to update bestsellers etc.

Of course stock control does not work in this situation.

With 1700 fast moving lines, this isn't looking too good :-(

Half the problem is I'm asking dumb questions I think as I don't understand the architecture... I can't make a decision as I'm not educated in the basics yet.

            I have a mac.

This probably explains most of it :-)

Forget Actinic then as its stock control is non existant in your situation. Gabe has released a remote addon which may work for you though.
