Buy one product and get something else at a discount.

Hmm, I just *know* this is going to be simple....

But I can't find a specific instance of a solution in the knowledge base or in past threads.

We have a number of products that are subdivided by weight:

    Chicken & Brown Rice in 15kg, 7.5kg and 2kg.

    The same with other varieties.

We also have other products available for sale such as our Bio Bags which as a promotion we want to sell at a discount if someone buys a 15kg bag of food.

    How do I do this??

As well as the Bio Bag product at normal price do I create a hidden Bio Bag product at the discount price and link it to each of the 15kg products.

    The webshop is at:

    http://www.shop.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk/

If you want to see the sort of context I'm trying to explain.

    Thanks

    Mike

Create the 15kg product and add the freebie to this product as a component (right click over the product).

Make the price for the combination just the product price.

You can set how you want the freebie to appear in the checkout and on invoices.

Hmm, there's a snag there as we have a choice of weight of bag and these are set as choices and I need to allow the promotion to be linked just with the 15kg bag. (see screenshots).

It would be impractical for us to have each variety/weight combination as seperate products (apart from the fact that I'd have to redo the webshop!!)

do you have permutations set up for these choices?

If not, could you set up hidden products for the 15kg bags with an added component for the discounted product. Set the product price in this hidden product and allocate it in the permutations for your MAIN product just for the 15kg bag?

(this won't work if you want stock control on your discounted product but I'm assuming you don't need it LOL)

          Thanks again for your wisdom.

Your idea has spawned an idea which would be relatively trivial to implement and flexible in the fact that we can offer other things attached to the 15 kg bag.

I can create a new choice of a '15kg bag including Bio Bags' which would be at the discounted price.

We could then use this on specific variety combinations and individual weights.

Obviously this is only practical if we only have a few minor promotions.

          Excellent...
