PSP's Customer receipts and Google Analytics

We have recently moved to using a PSP and have noticed (from our copy emails) that customers do not always click the button at the end of the payment process to go back to our site to get their receipt.

It has just dawned on me ( ) that if they don't click to go back to this receipt page the info will not go back to GA and will therefore not be recorded.

How do you all deal with this? Is there a way of forcing them back to the receipt page or do you use any special wording etc? On our bunting site we see this happening in say 1 in 8 orders. It is less common on our kids site but could still affect our view on marginal keywords.

    This is what we say:
Please click here to view your Receipt and generate your email confirmation.

The only other way to exit this page is to close the browser.

    Thanks in advance D

Why not just leave it at that. Reduce the options. Customers may then feel compelled to "click here".

That is the only option they have (!) other than to shut the browser but 1 in 8 or so don't click it .... very frustrating ! Just wondered if anyone else had a solution. Also interested to know how everyone else takes it into consideration or not for GA. Thanks D

Sorry Donna, I misunderstood your original post.

I read it to say that those two sentences were being displayed.

I think an auto-redirect will be the ticket but as for how to implement, I do not have a clue.

          meta redirect

          Hi all

I'd like to implement a meta redirect on our psp confirmation page to make customers go back to our recipt page so that they have a receipt, we get a confirmation email, they get a confirmation email and our GA works (otherwise the sales don't get recorded.)

I can find the code for a meta redirect on google but I'm unsure of the url for the receipt page. Can anyone confirm that it would be www.domain.co.uk/receipt.html but how does it be their dynamic receipt

Bit confused so any help much appreciated.

          Cheers D

Just in case this is causing anyone else a problem in the end we put a java redirect on the payment pages which ensures everyone goes back to the receipt page (unless java not on but I have been assured that will be minimal). GA looking healtheir now! Thansk for all the help D

Hi thanks for this. We've got GA running our problem was forcing people to click a link taking them back to our receipt page so that it triggered. About 30+% of orders didn't bother to get their receipt and therefore no info was sent to GA (hence the need for the auto redirect within the psp).

Could have put the GA code on the psp pages but this would have caused a problem with paypal payments (which incidentally thanks for all the advice to add this as a payment option, some customers def. seem more inclinded to use PP than other options.)

                  Hi Donna,

Part of the script automatically refreshes the page and completes the transaction. It is quite neat - even though I say so
