Ok heres the scenario

a site takes orders for items out of stock as they can be in stock within a couple of days.

So you then have the situation of allocating the stock to the oldest orders when the stock arrives - can Actinic handle this?

Thinking off the top of my head, you could just update the stock for the entire store in 'Operations | Stock Levels' and then use 'Edit | Find Ordered Products' to find the oldest orders that ordered that particular product.
