    Very, very slow uploading

    Good afternoon,

Without any warning our v8 multi user has taken on a life of its own!

When sending the order shipped emails the programme freezes.

After the slightest product change, ie putting a product in or out of stock, it takes over an hour to upload the site instead of the usual 30 seconds. Basically it refreshes the whole website regardless of whatever we ask it to do.

I've tested the network settings, which work, just slowly.

We haven't made any major changes and I have disabled the virus sacnning when uploading, but to no effect. Oh and the usual fix all of compacting the database...

Anybody have any ideas what to try?

    Regards, Robert

I see you're on Webfusion/Pipex, have you checked their status page, or contacted their tech support?

      Hi Malcom,

      First thing I did!

Nothing on the system status, but technical support said they would look into this.

Do you think it is the hosting? I would not be surprised as for the second year running they "forgot" to renew my SSL having been paid for it well in advance.

      All the best, Robert

It wouldn't surprise me either, that's the sort of thing that prompted me to move my reseller package elsewhere. Of course it might be unfair to blame them for this - how about your firewall, have you tried disabling it when uploading, did the problem coincide with a Windows update?

              Slow site upload

When I'm clicking the upload button on my toolbar my site with around 8000 products on takes over an hour to upload.

My understanding was that a check was done for changed files and only changed files uploaded but I think it may be uploading the entire site each time? Is there a quicker way to only update anything that has been changed?

'Update website' = changed files only
                'refresh website' = Everything

Thanks so is the blue up arrow used to refresh the complete site then because I thought it was used to update only?

I'm doing an update now after hitting the blue button and it is now sending catalog files and taken about half an hour so far!

If there are a lot of files being uploaded then this could be because you're using best seller /new product listings and these have changed. see this post http://community.actinic.com/showpos...33&postcount=5 and thread.

                      Chris

blue arrow, update website, but as mike said, the best sellers new items also brought, will mean that every page will be updated if one of these changes, make sure you do not have it set to update every upload

When I try and send the "order despatched" emails using the envelope logo Actinic stops responding.

The network tests work sometimes, if a little slowly, is this a hosting or Actinic problem.

I have tried switching off the firewall and virus scanning to no effect.

Robert i would say this all points towards a hosting problem, i use different servers for one site and actinic responds completely different, the mail server is faster for this one site.

I'm not saying it is definative, but from personal experience, that is my belief
