    /cgi-bin/ca000001.pl?ACTION=COOKIEERROR

A client of mine is seeing the following in Google Analytics:

    /cgi-bin/ca000001.pl 86.92%
    /cgi-bin/ca000001.pl?ACTION=SHOWCART 9.23%
    /cgi-bin/ca000001.pl?ACTION=COOKIEERROR 3.85%

The client is using Actinic sharded SSL to capture CC details to process offline. I've tested the checkout and it seems ok during my tests.

It seems that almost 4% of people reaching the first stage of the checkout are getting the CookieError.

Can anyone please comment on the possible cause and implications of this CookieError?

I would think that if a customer manages to add to cart, but get's the cookie error on going to checkout (on SSL) that this could well be caused by a mix up between www. and non www. usage.

The site could operate fine on a non-www basis until the checkout forces the use of www. references on SSL. This would be the first thing I would check. Go to the site using a non-www. url and see what happens.

Thanks for the thought Mike. I don't think that is the case but am checking it out.

Any other causes? How is the ACTION=COOKIEERROR initiated?

This is not a continous issue with my client, it only happens sometimes.
I recommended that the cookie expiry is set to longer to see if it is due to people returning ot the site viewing the cart after the cookie has expired. The results of this can be monitored again after a while in Google Analytics to see if there is any difference.

The problem on your site Darron is definitely due to a mix of http://www.parklife... and http://parklife...
Check your network settings and make sure all your references are http://ww.parklife...
