    Image Trouble - Mental Block

Guys, don't know if anyone is able to help with this one. I am adamant it has worked before and I don't know if anyone does this for their sites...

I have a png graphics file that has a transparent background that I am trying to save as a jpg or gif but it is always giving it a black background. I don't have Photoshop or other top notch graphics programmes, just Irfanview and CorelDraw X3 Suite but I am having a real mental block as to how-to achieve this - I am sure it can be done.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Try opening the file in MS Paint I think that will make the transparent bits white IIRC.

Thanks for that Duncan, it has done it but has now got remnants of the original edited picture underneath it - rather than being transparent. Is there anyway to get around that, do you think?

Bit confused now. Do you want it to still be tranparent as a gif instead of a png (ie convert it)? You can't save with transparancy as a jpg.

It's ok, have done it now. It's worked with copying and pasting now whereas it wasn't before. Thanks for your input - appreciate it.

For future in Corel X3 ref import your PNG , click onto it, Bitmaps > Convert to Bitmap (use RGB), File > Export to JPG ..... see if that removes the alpha transparency
