    Required Perl version

Hi, our hosts have strongly advised us to upgrade our Perl version. We are currently on v5.8.5 and the recommended version to upgrade to is v5.8.8.

Before we upgrade, will Actinic work with this version of Perl & has anyone had any issues this version (v5.8.8).

We've got approx 60 Actinic sites on the server (a mixture of 7s & 8s) so I'd like to check before doing the upgrade and save myself a lot of unpaid overtime.

    Thanks,

    Duncan.

I don't know the answer to your question, although I have never seen any Perl version issues posted on the forum and I personally have used numerous Perl versions with Actinic and have never had any problems.

However, it would be interesting to know, why are your hosts are recommending you upgrade? Is it a specific issue with your server or an issue with v5.8.5?
    Cheers

The Actinic hosting requirements say 5.02 or higher but it's probably worth double checking with Actinic support.

        Duncan,

We recommend using perl v5.8.8.817 or higher so you should not have any issues with the version recommended by your host. It can be downloaded from http://www.activestate.com/

        Kind regards,

          Thanks Bruce,

Our server has been emailing us every 4 hours for the last 6 weeks "urging" us to upgrade so it will be good to to reduce our email count by 6 emails a day.

          Thanks.
