    VAT Help

    Hi all

    Have a problem which I hope one of you brainy people are going to help me solve.

    I have a version 7 site which I did not develop. The problem I have is all the products were set to 'exempt' in the vat handling drop down, all prices were then set to include vat and carriage.

    We are in the process of upgrading to V8 and I have altered all prices in the database (warning about altering DB accepted) to be ex vat. Then when I change the VAT teatment dropdown to VAT Actinic adds the VAT.

    My problem is I have 4500 item to change! Does anyone know of a way of automating this process

    Cheers

    Hi John,

    You need to update the column

    sTax1OpaqueData

    in the product table in the access database to the relevant tax code.
    (standard warning about playing with database etc etc....)

    The easiest way to identify the correct code for all your products is to simply change the Tax rate for one product in Actinic and see what it changes to in the database.

    Usually VAT(Normal) is something like
    301=1750=0=

    however you'll need to check your own as custom taxes etc can affect this code.

      Vat

      Hi Fergus

      Cheers I will try it on a copy, however I feel that this does not in itself update the vat treatment dropdown.

        Hi John,
        Testing on my database and changing this field from
        0=0=0=
        to
        301=1750=0=

        changes the tax treatment in Actinic from Exempt to VAT(Normal) in my version 8 of Actinic, but please let me know what you experience in your Actinic and I'll see if I can assist further.

          Cheers Furgus yes it works if you change a single line but not if you copy and paste.
