    server problems i guess

    www.dirtypoprecords.com/acatalog

I have been trialing v8 and have come accross a problem which seems to be on my server.

server info: Webfusion VPS, Pleask 7.5.4

I seem to be going around in circles.

what basically happens is that when u first upload the site it works. after carrying out a few script operations on the site (not a specific number), the scripts cannot be executed, and an Internal error appears in the browser.

I have found a means off solving the problem when the errors appear but it is not a suitable solution, as the error start again.

By simply logging into plesk and untick one of ther server options (i.e apache support or mod_perl support), doesnt seem to matter which one, but this seemd to reset the problem with site working. Soon after the site falls down again.

Has anyone experienced this, if so, do you have a solution.

    thanks

Adrian, it's best not to post the same problem in two places as then any replies can get crossed between the two threads making it confusing for everybody to follow.

Webfusion don't seem to offer the best experience for actinic users which means you're unlikely to get much help on the forum as only a few other people use them successfully (if any).

I would suggest you log a support request with actinic and get them to look at your problem. You can do this free on the actinic website or by phone if you have actinic cover.

    Mike

PS. Free telephone support is also available during 30-day trails and for the first 30 days after purchasing Actinic.

Ive over 40 sites running on webfusion with no problems at all - several others on the forum are resellers.

I have posted the network setting for webfusion and there was a thread a few weeks ago about setting up VPS

Fair enough, Malcolm. I must have missed them when looking back as I thought I'd seen lot's of people with webfusion problems recently, including some moving hosts. Maybe I was thinking of another host.

I must admit most of the recent problems have been with users going mad with their settings. These ones look OK to me which is why I'm suggesting he tries actinic support.

As mike says your first port of call should be support as they will help for free as you are trialing - they will also give you some server space to use as well.

i have already seen this thread. i have copied the setting, and the site still falls down.

Its currently giving the same internal error. and when i run the test in network settings i get the following errors

"Actinic received a server error from the web server. The CGI scripts are not executing properly on the server. Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration."

                followed by

"The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts."

i have have logged into plesk and enter the setting for the domain.

Apache ASP support - unticked and saved.

Apache ASP support - reticked and saved.

the test now passes all criteria and the site works, but it will fall down shortly after using the site.

                Any ideas

if you are absolutely sure your network settings are correct then its more likely to be a server problem

                  thus contact webfusion

It's all gone a bit downhill at web fusion and 123-reg in the past year. I sometimes wait 2 weeks for replies to similar support questions (someone was told 123-reg are working at a backlog of 3000 enquiries )

Although they are the same company I never use 123 for hosting as they are at the cheap and chearfull end of the market and as you say support is poor (you get what you pay for). However Webfusion is IMO tops for support - when I do need to talk to them which is very rare things are sorted very quickly.

My last post of the subject of hosting as its such a subjective issue

always takes at least 30 mins to pickup.

they were over a while and moved from Nottingham to Stockley Park near heathrow. They now have totally unexperienced technical support depatment from what i hear

bin with them for longer than 30 days. no worries, if i cant find a solution, i'll find somewhere else for the site.

So is Pinbrook the one Rural?

                              go on, one post.
