    Buy Now Not Working

    Hi all,

For some reason when i try clicking on the "buy now" button it is not going to the cart page (it doesnt appear to do anything).

The site is currenlty on a different url to the one I will be using (for testing purposes as this is an update to an existing site) - www.equip2cater.co.uk.

I have set up the business settings so that odering is enabled and have tried comparing settings from the current site with the new one but dont be able to see why this is currently not working.

Does anyone know any reasons might not be working?

    Kind Regards

    Jon

I would guess at a missing form tag due to you having messed with the layout(s). Thats the most common cause anyway. If things are not too customised, just revert back to factory settings on the layouts you have messed with and start again. This is often your quickest method of repair. Or a previous functioning snapshot of course.

      Hi Lee,

Many thanks for your help - this could well be the case as i have played around with the layout for the extended information page.

I will have another lok when i get home and can hopefully fix by viewing the layout on the current site - if not I will have to look at reverting the layout settings - do you think it is likley to be the layout of the "extended info page" or the "add to cart button" where the "form" tag is missing from?

      Kind Regards

You also get the option to 'compare' with the factory settings, it may be worth doing that, you can see what you changed then and what is missing. That may be your halfway house answer. It just depends usually on how much you have done, sometimes it's just easier to start from a clean slate etc. You can also have it highlighted to you, any layout that has been changed, select the checkbox in the design library - another great feature to help you understand what's happening at times.

After a lot of trial and error I hae finally isolated the problem but am unsure as to how to fix it.

The issue appears to be due to the drop downs and newsletter signup in my section list. I am wondering if it is due to the use of the <form> tags which are used in these - although I use these on the current site and they work fine there. I have inlcluded the code below which I have added in the "End of list" section of the "TopLevelSectionList" layout.

            <table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" width="175">
            <tr height="2" bgcolor="#ffffff"><td></td></tr>
            <tr bgcolor="#cccccc" height="20"><td ><span class="boxheading">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;View by Brand</span></td></tr>

              Jonathan,
I have a similar problem on my pages where I have added Google checkout buy now buttons.
I can't place a buy now button on any page other than a single product page and I have to place it as a fragment below the product or it kills my Actinic "add to cart" buttons.
As it is, the fragment means I can't place any products below it on the page (although probably someone will tell me a better way round it)
This is because, in order to get the GC buy now to work, I have to close to <form> tag on the page because otherwise it is trying to nest the forms. (and, as a result, I have a load of coding errors but hey ho!)

              Maybe it's a similar problem?
Without seeing the page that's causing the problem, it's difficult to say further
              Tracey

Sorry i should have posted a link to an exmaple page - http://equip2cater.co.uk/acatalog/ca...lobe_info.html

It may be that will have to use a block if to hide these parts of the side bar on the extended info page so that it does not interfere with the buy now button.

                Regards

You haven't got an end form tag </form> for the newsletter signup box, is that intended or did you just not copy that piece of code here?
Yes i forgot to paste that it sits just after the closing table tag in tge code i pasted.

Probably something in the two form tags that is the same and in effect one cancels the other out. For example, if you have two forms on the page and one has the same properties it is sending or is in the browsers eyes numbered the same then it wouldn't work.

                      I have no idea LOL

took me a fair amount of trial and error, placing it here, there and everywhere, to get it to work at all..and then, when I got the GC button working..the add to cart didn't!

I worked out why...and by adding a </form> at the start of the GC fragment, the GC button works. Actinic just doesn't like it very much (coding error-wise)
It does the job for what I want it to do anyway

Not related to this problem though really....I noticed the lack of form on the page in the example given too..
