Blocks & white space

When working with uncompressed html, why on God's earth do empty blocks generate huge amounts of white space on the page? I am working on a page here that is 10 times longer than it needs to be because of the huge amount of white space all the blocks are causing!

Got an invoice emailed to me yesterday with a big THINK before you print this off and a picture of a wee tree at the bottom.

Today I'm going to scan and email the cheque and tell them to THINK before they bank the thing.

That'll confuse 'em hopefully.

I've set it all up in the CP, I'm sure, I have. and outlook *was* retrieving yesterday (well, for BB it was anyway...some were arriving in there..some still in the old webmail inbox..I expected that)

This morning I'm just being continually prompted for username and password and my emails seem to be going...well..nowhere!

It's early days still though (24 hours) I'm hoping a couple more hours will sort it (mind you, I said that last night lol)
