Do my sites seem slow to you?

I don't know if it's just my connection at work but Nik did mention it at home too so I wonder..

If you check both the sites in my sig, what is the loading speed like?

I've switched hosts this week and they used to be fine...now it's crawling SOOOOOOOO slowly and I don't think it's just me

What does it load like for others?

Typical it would be on a Friday, wouldn't it?
Ticket response is usually pretty good..I'll give it a short while and then call (typical I have to leave at 3 today too )

It's been more "off" than "on" for me
Annoying really because we're not exactly eating up resources compared to how much we supposedly have!

It took me about 30 seconds get the home page to load but after that it was flying with no problems!

Must just be one of those intermittent things that happens now and then

but 30 seconds for the homepage?!

If I was the surfer, I'd be off elsewhere LONG before 30 seconds had passed.

I wonder...could it be my redirect causing a problem?
I have a redirect in my htaccess so that www.jesterstrickbits.co.uk loads the catalog homepage (we don't use any brochure pages on either site although that is due to change with Jesters..but anyway..) and the same for BB.

Is it possible that could be causing the initial homepage delay then? Does the rest of the site seem ok?

I am no expert but would not have thought re-directs would be causing the delays for the homepage loading. Just tried again and its taking

17 seconds for budget to load
30 seconds for jester to load

once the home pages have loaded I have not had any problems and the speed is fine and its really quick.

Just looked them now (10.30 pm)
They come up very fast, less than a second per page.
I guess it is congestion on the web at other times

At times, they're every bit as slow as some sites I've got with Heart... I plan to move them early next year.

well, I'm not going to name them at the minute because they are looking into the issue and it could be fixable etc....and I don't want to unduly give them a bad rap....but they did come highly recommended on the forum

but still...it was a big enough decision to move in the first place
