Storing stock cost to the business but not visible to cust.

I want to be able to store a link of text or fragment in each product page stating the cost to me. So I can balance my costs against my sale price.

Obv need a way to do this without customers seeing it.

I think its a good idea as I am editing and working out how to charge I dont need to keep referring to my suppliers book..

Maybe on v9 there should be more back end stock stuff added..

like product cost. sale price etc etc..

would be handy.. in the mean time...............??

I have thought of adding a sub section in every product page with the cost price. then click hide from website? maybe some html code within the product discription?

    Cheers

does it need to be on the website? or can it just be in your offline system?

I have a custom variable for product cost price which is just held for reference at the back end

Add it to the product, but not to the product layout.

just set up a custom variable at product level and choose a place of setting.

          Design>Library>Variables
In the Products section, right click, new variable.

Or, you could add another customer group, with its own schedule and store your cost price in that (on the prices tab). Thatway, if you ever want to look at it online, you can login and see it.

If you give that customer group a stupid name, you're unlikely to inadvertantly select it when setting up a new account :-)
