    Cleaning up product database

I have probably 1,000 + products in an actinic site and a lot of them are the same product entered two or three times (some times more). I want to clean this up by creating a correct product duplicate for each item that needs to appear in more than one section.

Has anyone got any tips or advice on the best way to approach this?

Put the originals of your 'to be' duplicated products in a folder of their own and eventually have this hidden on your website. Then proceed logically through your folders, deleting the copies of products and 'pasting as duplicates' from your dedicated duplicate folder. Having the dedicated folder gives you one central place for all products that are duplicated.

Oh and get a flask and a comfy chair and don't try and do it all at once.

Thanks Lee, hadn't thought of that, thats certainly a better way than I was planning to do it! I'm so glad I posted this now.

Pleasure Leon, don't forget Duncan's advice too, every half hour IMO you want to be doing that.
