Multiple Images On Fragment Problem

Hi All..

I have recently learnt how to create multiple images for products. I need the same thing for fragments (the ability to add more then one image to a fragment). I have created a new variable, called it FragmentImageFileName2, selected where i want it to appear, and checked it to "allow empty value".

However, after creating it, I tried to use it for an image. But after I browse for an image, the field suddenly goes blank and no image drops in to my page.

Have I created my variable correctly? See screen shots.

have you restarted Actinic (or, indeed, compacted/restarted) since creating the variable?

they're bloody fickle things an I have no end of "occasional" glitches with mine but they're usually solved by a compact and/or restart

Thanks for your quick reply.

I've just tried compacting and restarting actinic but no joy.

As soon as I choose an image to use, it just gets rid of it so I'm left with a broken image.

Any Ideas?

try recreating the variable under a different "group"?
You could change the one you're using now (the variable, that is) but it'd probably be safer to recreate it altogether, maybe using "fragment" as the group?

Just a thought, maybe it doesn't like your "extra images" group in the fragment

I've been reading this post throughout the day thinking 'this guy is just doing something plain daft, don't say anything Lee, bite your lip'. BUT i am beginning to think that no way are you now, how big is your snapshot, can you email or skype it, i'm intrigued to see this.

You should understand what I want after this post...

I am trying to make IMAGE ONE work in Actinic.

I have to make it work in a standard version of Actinic because my customer will not be buying Multi-user like me. Therefore I cant use some kind of discount feature to make it work.

I have setup my page as IMAGE TWO (All products on this page are the same product) - Its a page which has one buy button and each product has a Minimum and Maximum quantity. Therefore, its works as close to IMAGE ONE as I can get.

Now that's sorted (soft of).. I need to be able to add text and images above this layout to show information about the product, and to show pictures of what it looks like.

The only way I can see this working is with a Fragment. Thats when i created IMAGE THREE

The problem I am having now is that you can only have one image per fragment (by default). But when I try making a few image variables to be able to get this IDEAL RESULT - THEY DONT WORK!

Any idea what I'm talking about?

Firstly, if I understand you correctly, would it not be easier to add your variable into the Product Layout wherever you want it to appear?

And secondly, we probably need to see your fragment code!

Hi there

I've just tried the same thing on my default 8.5.1 and couldn't make the same thing happen. Are you on 8.5.1? If not - you should definitely consider upgrading.

One other thing to try might be to set the 'Top Level Value' and 'Initial Value' of the variable to be 'theme_shim.gif' as this is just a 1px x 1px transparent image. Then try and change it from that value in the fragment itself.
